Functional Medicine
At Rooted Chiropractic, we believe true wellness comes from caring for the whole person—not just treating symptoms. That's why, in addition to our neurologically-based chiropractic care, we offer functional medicine in Clarendon Hills as a powerful complement to your family's health journey.
Why Choose Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine looks deeper than what is going on in your body—it asks why. By focusing on the root causes of health concerns, we create personalized strategies that restore balance, improve energy, and support long-term healing.
This approach is designed to look beyond symptoms and uncover the why behind what you or your child may be experiencing—from fatigue, hormone imbalance, and gut issues to immune challenges, stress, mood concerns, and ongoing inflammation.
Functional medicine gives us the tools to uncover that why and guide your body back toward balance—naturally.
What Functional Medicine Addresses
Feeling exhausted despite getting sleep? Fatigue that doesn't resolve with rest often signals something deeper—blood sugar dysregulation, nutrient deficiencies, thyroid dysfunction, or adrenal stress. We look at your labs, your lifestyle, and your history to find out what's actually draining your energy—then address it so you can show up for your family, your work, and yourself again.
Hormones influence everything from your mood and metabolism to your cycle, sleep, and skin. When they're out of balance, you feel it. We support women through every hormonal transition—irregular cycles, PMS, perimenopause, postpartum shifts, and thyroid concerns. Through advanced testing and personalized protocols, we help your body find its rhythm again.
When conception isn't happening, there's usually a reason—hormonal imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, thyroid dysfunction, chronic inflammation, or stress that's keeping your body in survival mode instead of creation mode.
We look at the full picture: your cycle, your labs, your gut health, your stress load. Then we identify what's working against you and create a plan to optimize your body for conception—whether you're just starting to try or have been on this road for a while.
Your gut does more than digest food. It affects your immune system, your mood, your energy, and your ability to absorb the nutrients you need. Bloating, constipation, diarrhea, reflux, and food sensitivities often point to deeper imbalances—dysbiosis, leaky gut, or inflammation. We investigate what's happening in your digestive system and build a plan to restore it.
If you or your child seem to catch every bug that goes around—or take longer than expected to recover—your immune system may need support. Chronic or recurring illness often ties back to gut health, nutrient status, and nervous system function. We look at all of it, helping strengthen your body's natural defenses so you spend less time sick and more time living.
Chronic stress rewires your body. It disrupts your sleep, your digestion, your hormones, and your ability to feel like yourself. Anxiety, irritability, low mood, and brain fog are often symptoms of a nervous system stuck in overdrive. Functional medicine helps us understand what's driving the stress response—and how to calm it down through targeted nutrition, lifestyle shifts, and nervous system support.
Inflammation is your body's natural response to injury or illness. But when it becomes chronic, it contributes to pain, fatigue, brain fog, skin issues, and long-term disease risk. We identify hidden sources of inflammation—food sensitivities, infections, toxins, or metabolic dysfunction—and create a plan to reduce it at the source.
